When my client Jenny came to my studio at Oh Sew Perfect in Aberdeenshire to discuss making and fitting Gable-end Roman Blinds, I set it upon myself to make it a personal challenge to help her out.
After trying various other companies who all turned down the offer, I decided I would try to provide Jenny with the feature Roman Blinds she was looking for.
She really wanted something to block out the strong sunlight that was making the room too hot to sit in during the summer, but also to add some colour and texture to the room.
I went out to her home to measure up and that was the moment of realisation at just how big these blinds would be! The fabric was then chosen, a striking modern design with a splash of colour. Jenny wanted to add a bit of interest to the large open plan space but also wanted to refer to the pale blue of the kitchen and the grey in the sofas.
Specialised heavy duty tracks were required to operate the blinds, with scaffolding required to be erected for the installation. Each roman blind measured 2 metres wide by 4 metres long, my biggest roman blinds to date! I blackout lined the roman blinds which acted as a sun block, also helping to prevent fading of the fabric.
Making these myself was no easy task but it was very rewarding to see them fitted in situ and the and the delight of my client, after trying for so long to find someone to make them.
I love my huge roman blinds for my glass gable end, I couldn’t be more delighted with them. Katherine is a perfectionist and has done an amazing job! I cannot recommend her highly enough.
